I got my XE1 mid Dec. I experimented with it somewhat. Your choices seem to be:

1. Straight out of the camera jpegs  - hard to beat.

2. In camera RAW conversion - seemed to gain little but I suppose access to white balance etc after the fact of shooting.

3. SilkyPix RAW conversion to Tiff. - this has some advantages but minor.

4. SilkyPix RAW conversion to jpeg -  less flexibility and little to be gained from ooc jpegs.

5. Conversion to TIFF and then colour handling converting to lab colour in Photoshop, blurring the A and B channels to remove watercolour effect and regain lost sharpness.

5 works best but is more work. OOC jpegs are almost as good. XE1 white balance is superb so need for RAW post processing is much less than usual.

My conclusion was shoot in jpeg and not worry about it for now. I intend to check out Capture 1's converter once released as I do want more detail in my XE1 shots that I believe is there to be achieved but no software is giving just yet.

Greg.
