photos coming out dull with new canon ix6550 printer

i have just got my new printer and made a few prints but they are coming out really dull and lack colour.i used the icc profiles for the paper in lightroom and set no colour adjustment in the printer settings but still they are bad.what am i doing wrong.would using cheap photo paper be causing it?ive used cheap paper before with brilliant results but on my old epson r300 printer
