Focus on Emount 55-210

Hi,

I got the 55 to 210 for xmas and focusing seems to be a bit finicky. I was just trying it out our back door, and the focus system wast picking up the backgroung rather than the foreground. I decided that I would narrow the selection by selecting spot focus where the focus object filled more of the focus area, and still no luck. The spot focus was on the ring, and the support, but it still insisted on picking up the background. I had to focus on something else, and then qiickly more to the ring to get it to lock. See example of the failed focus and one that worked after folling the system below. Have others had this issue? Any suggestions to improve this function?
