I think this is modern trend of today's digital camera.
If Ricoh is releasing GXR2, then, we'll probably going to see a Film like SLR
style dwith ricoh's own sensor. GXR was named after GX+XR(ricoh SLR)= GXR.
I see it as Pentax is going classic design, drawing on their own heritage.
I don't think we can extrapolate from a new Pentax brand camera what a new Ricoh camera will be like. There's no evidence to support it. Just because one company owns the two brands does not mean that they act as one brand.
I would speculate that the luxury of having two brands means you keep their identities and design ethos unique – each with their own target users.
