I've decided I can live without a viewfinder to keep the size small, but dropping the hot shoe was a bad idea. The Olympus is a very strong entry in the enthusiast compact, but Pentax should have added some feature to give people a reason to choose MX-1 over ZX-2.
The forte's as i see them:
Is the MX-1 the only one with Shake Reduction? I didn't go through all the specs, but it would seem so. That could be very handy for a travel camera, certainly something to take into consideration.
It has 2 dials on the back (ok, one is dedicated to EV comp). The Oly ZX-2 seems to have one, around the lens.
The screen on the back has 900K dots (twice the new fuji x20), and it tilts for those macro & overhead shots.
Macro is down to 1cm. That seems to be the norm, but i find it pretty amazing.

The XZ-2 has IS, screen can tilt and has a touch screen and touch shutter function. XZ-2 can do 1cm macro with the Supermacro mode. MX-1 can do 1/8000 shutter compared to the 1/2000 of XZ-2
