That's what he meant ... "apart from staying with the 1/2" sensor" means that keeping the HS30's sensor form factor (although it is a new version with PDAF) creates at least one major difference between the HS50 and the X-S1.

Of course, there are many major differences, but the HS50 checks enough interesting boxes to make it a less than obvious decision ... I was HS30 over X-S1 before (based on price and RAW image quality), and the specs on the HS50 make that a slam dunk for me sight unseen ...
