How do I edit a movie taken on Canon 60D?

I tried out the movie function on my 60D over new year, very much trial and error. I now have .mov files, can these be edited on DPP? basically I under exposed and wondered if it is possible to rescue it a bit by increasing the exposure? do I need to convert the movie to another format? at the moment I can only view is on windows live gallery. Sorry for my novice movie question.
