Upgrading from an 800 to an 800e, risking moire to get a tiny bit more resolution, and then putting it behind a low resolving super zoom makes no sense to me.
??? The 28-300VR is just my travel lens, and for that purpose it's doing perfect. For more serious work I use different glass like 70-200VRII and better..
