I own the same kind of blower, and I don’t think it has changed much over the past four years. I keep in my camera bag.

But yes, rubber and all polymers tend to degrade over time. I’ve heard this degradation can occur due to sulfur compounds often found in air pollution. Also see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymer_degradation
