Lets say you are shooting A priority and you'd like to make a small change to the exposure, what is the benfit of moving an exposure comp wheel and not just changing the shutter speed?

When you are in aperture priority mode, and then change the aperture setting, the camera will automatically compensate for this by changing the shutter speed, keeping the exposure — or overall brightness of the image — the same.

Exposure compensation brightens or darkens the image. This is especially important if significant highlights are being blown (or overexposed) by the camera’s standard exposure.
