i would not bother so much of rain unless you want to shoot under a storm.
I dont see the problem to use the 14mm if the weather is not fine....i suppose you will use a bag to store the camera, maybe also an umbrella to walk under the rain or protect yourself and the camera. The time to take a pics and put back the camera in the bag is minimal.
I think people now are exaggerating the problem of weather sealing.
having said that the difference, as someone stated, is more on portability. the 12-50 is quite big.
i would personally move to more compact size and therefore use a 17mm (that is what i'm planning to do buying the 20mm)
