Aperture to Lightroom - Simple Question
|
As a long time Aperture user I may have reached my tipping point and now am seriously considering migrating to Lightroom. Why?
I have a few hundred thousand photos spread out over several libraries. Often when there is an incremental upgrade to Aperture it may go quickly or it may take hours to update the library and then the vault. With all my photos and libraries, I sometimes can't access aperture for a day or longer depending on the size of my library.
Recently, several of my libraries have been creating new thumbnails and/or previews every time the library is opened. I have deleted old previews, thumbnails, preferences, etc and even transferred out project by project and still the same problem occurs. Seems to affect some libraries more than others.
Support for new cameras is slow. Been shooting with an Rx1 and had an Fuji Xpro1 for awhile. Still waiting for raw support.
Been playing with Lightroom and not yet comfortable. Seems clunky having to switch from module to module. Also, miss the project and album organization of aperture. Nevertheless, it may be time to make the change.
Simple question. For those that have made the switch, have you kept an old copy of aperture to revisit older photos and edits or have you gone all in with lightroom? Thanks.
