thanks for the suggestions
I am planning to get the 90EX as a compact carry around for fill flash

It's sort of pointless
The 90EX does not flash for the purposes of illuminating the photograph, so putting it somewhere else does not accomplish much.
That said, you can hang it on the end of an off-camera shoe cord, from Canon or elsewhere, and perhaps position it so it does a better job of triggering another flash.
Summary with 6D:
580EX on camera and 430EX on stand, and two flashes go off.
90EX on camera or on an off camera cable, and 430EX on stand, and only one flash (the 430EX) goes off.
isn't the 90ex supposed to act as a master? I would have thought when 90EX is on camera and 430EX on stand, both would fire
90EX on camera, no other flashes, and the 90EX goes off (flash fill, or even main light if straight ahead is good enough)
Convenient combo: leave a 90EX on the camera all the time, because it it light in weight and small in size, and carry a 320EX, 430EX or 580/600EX in a pocket. Hold the second flash in your hand, a la Statue of Liberty, when you need it.
how does this differ from "90EX on camera or on an off camera cable, and 430EX on stand, and only one flash (the 430EX) goes off." ?
Same deals as above work, I believe, if you want wireless flash with T1i and T2i, 5D-III, and maybe other cameras
