Chris, from this comparison there is nothing I see that would compel me to go the film route. I'm assuming the main reason is the film you chose to use. ISO 400? If some one is needing that iso for a subject then I can't see the need for employing MF film to capture clarity only unless its an artistic rendering you are after.

A much better test would be to have chosen a finer grained film negative or what I'd like to have seen, a transparency since that's all I had mostly used in my work. How the process is handled all the way through after capture to which utmost consideration to quality would give a better, truer result could be had as far as MF film vs what ever. If I were to be stuck either by time, expense or convenience applying your method of testing then as I said before, I wouldn't bother with film. Utilizing a better grade of film and drum scan or even the Imacon is what would address the concept of what you are offering here.
