I don't think it would be possible to implement it on the OVF and have it calibrated so the images match up. Parallax error would make it a real pain. I wouldn't mind having a popup focus screen within my OVF.
That is was I am saying too, have a small area in the middle of the OVF parallax corrected frame were this split screen appears. It wouldn't have to much up perfectly, but the focus would be accurate.
