The first serious wet cleaning I had to perform on my D300 was after about 50k (!!!) shots. And I'm very picky about spots.

On some of the D600s I've seen here you wouldn't see anything else but spots after 50k shots without regular wet cleaning.

According to the posts I've read oil/debris is/was a very serious issue. Especially for the landscape guys with lots of sky in their images.
