Interesting reading this.

The X100 and XE are different things, that really shouldn't be compared. However, some people can only have one camera, for various reasons, and some people, like me, like to only have one camera. I like to e able to do anything with one thing, even if it means a struggle, so I like to know the one thing is the most capable within the parameters I set.

The three cameras I have been using over the past few years, GRD4, RX100 and X100. RX100 I dislike but it produces great images, and large images. X100 the best when you crack it and the GRD the most fun with the best UI ever made. I kept only the RX100.

Now I have an XE1, bought last week. I'm tempted to return it and wait for the new x100s, possibly using the existing x100 in the mean time.

The XE1 I find not as good as the reviews suggest. The EVF is jerky and slow, disorientating infact. So I miss the OVF. The AF also slow. My sons running from one side of the room to the other, I just shoot the dust behind them. Half pressing doesnt work because of the delay with the EVF. I'm using the 18-55.

The 23mm lens tempts me to keep hold of the XE1 but then the lens will be the same price as the X100s and will be my primary lens, so another tick for returning the XE1.

I totally agree, new tech is always around, but as I'm still in the cooling off period I think it might be wise to return.

The thing with new stuff, and x trans sensors, is LR doesn't like it and apple seem to ignore it!

The import crop on XE1 images to LR is frustrating, especially on a long shoot.

First World problems.

BTW the 18-55 is excellent. The term 'kit lens' really doesn't do it any favours. It's a great thing. The overall speed I'm not so sure about.
