This is exactly what I do.. I have a full Contax 645 setup with all of the glass they they produced for that system..
That's a sweet set up. Really awesome. You post your work anywhere? I'd like to look at it if you have gallery somewhere.
Inherited it from my father.. (he's still with us, just so old he can't move much so he passed it all on to me). No, I don't post anywhere really... Probably because I know my talent would not do the system justice and I would be viewed as someone unworthy of having such a great kit..
That's crazy but OK.
I try to shoot a roll of B/W film a month with it and do all the processing at home.
Why so little? I shoot 5-6 rolls of film PER WEEK! I'd do the processing except the developing and scanning here in China are just so damn cheap. Top notch quality and rock bottom prices. I figure I should take advantage of that while I am here. I bought all the equipment to do the developing but stalled when I realized it's actually cost benefit to have others do the work.
Great point.. But, I know your a father of young ones, as I am.. Nuff Said... Actually, I admire you for getting that much film done..
It's hard this time of year. Shanghai is so dull and boring with gray endless days.
People don't realize how easy it is to process B/W Film which is a shame really.. It's dead simple and very economical. I also have a older, but still very capable Epson Flatbed scanner which I do all my scanning on. It far surpasses the quality I need for the max size prints I make (A3 Plus) on my Epson pigment inkjet.
There is nothing as satisfying for me as taking an image all the way from loading the film to hanging the print on the wall and doing it 100% by myself.
I can understand that. I love shooting FUJIFILM Neopan ACROS film. It is amazing in its tonality. Not even my S5 Pro gets close to the tones that this film makes.
I got a whole shelf in my fridge of Acros (much to my wifes dismay)
Our fridge is too tiny for that. I buy 2 weeks worth of film at a time, although I am shooting a lot of Delta 3200 now and need to stock up on that a lot.

Edit... I should add that processing color slide film at home is just about as easy and cost effective as B/W... Just sayin..
I have just started shooting transparency film. I have 30 some rolls of Provia and now have a treasured stash of ASTIA. I'm not going to shoot that until I have a really nice lighting set up. That film is hard to find and very expensive.
Transparency is nice and rich, but the dynamic range of negative film is better IMHO
Not an opinion, that's a fact. Slide film has the least dynamic range. Still, I have yet to blow a highlight yet. The meter on my FUJIFILM GA645 is that good.
.. Many, that Astia film was amazing, but since I mainly shoot landscapes I tend to go more to Provia and bump the colors in post-process if needed. Plus, Provia can be decent for portraits if needed..just a slight bit harsh..
I dont find Provia useful for portraits. My kids skin color comes out much too dark and saturate. Astia is a portrait film with more subdued colors so I am expected better.
I also have a Toyocaflex twin lens reflex camera that I just enjoy the hell out of shooting.. Man it's fun using those old cameras...
Yes it is and here in China, there are dozens of stores selling old cameras. I could easily go bankrupt here if unrestrained.
