Before one could hope, but not prove, that the next version might offer an improvement but now it's different. Fujifilm has shown what they can do and now buying the current X-E1 and X Pro 1 is a decidedly less attractive move unless they MUST have the camera now.

Sure; that is correct but that's true for EVERYTHING especially consumer electronics. For example, look at the Ipad mini; everyone knows the next version will have an improved retina screen yet, it selling like hot cakes. Another example is, most likely we'll get a cheaper FF mirrorless interchangeable soon maybe less than a year; yet people still buy the current models instead of waiting for it. I guess what I'm saying is; there's always something better around the corner especially in consumer electronics.

I agree with you, but this case is slightly different. The X-E1 just hit the market last month. It's sensor is already the last generation. 1 month. That's crazy. This is an extreme example of products being outclassed very quickly.

Imagine this new X100s being a generation old with the release of an X Trans III sensor in March. Then you might understand how some feel.

I agree the announcement is a little too close to the XE-1; it would have been better say in March; availability in April. Then we would have had a 6 month honeymoon with the XE1 and only 6 months to wait for the XE2. I still think they are just different enough to compete with different consumers; one is fixed and the other is interchangeable.

Think about it this way. How long as the x100 been out? It's due for an update. The x100 and XE1 are different cameras on different development paths. I don't see the issue.

Agreed. The X100s is getting the X-Trans Sensor that the X-E1 already has. I don't see how that equates to the X-E1 being obsolete. Two totally different cameras.

The X100s is the newer sensor. The phase-detect pixels, will completely change the focusing speed and experience compared with the XE1 and XPro cameras.
