Hmmm.... just re-read this.  Let me re-state....


Bottom line is... if edited images, where you have played with image levels, are not printing too dark or too light then it is the right monitor brightness.

I'm alluding to the "dark prints" issue in the original phrase - a common problem with monitors that are too bright but if your monitor is adjusted too dark for the ambient light, you can also have issues with prints that are too light.
