Steve,

Do you use FX? I am interested in the corner/edge performance v the f2.8 VRII at landscape distances(mid to far).

Hi Brian,

From the test results I have SEEN, it looks like the f4 is at least equal to the f2.8 in the FX corners, But I can't prove it. I gave up my D800 because of weight.(However, we are only talking .16 lbs difference between the D7000 and D800). The problem I had was the lenses that the D800 required. The 70-200 f4 might be a game changer in that regards. Makes me think D600 - even lighter than the D7000 (barely). However, before I jump on the D600 band wagon I need to see an acceptable super wide. I tried the 14-24 but way too much flare and no filter holder - and huge. The 16-35 f4 was sadly lacking at 16mm on FX. My alternative was the 17-35 - old and heavy but closest of the three.

I think we shall see some exciting Nikon lens packages in the next 3 months - especially since the Sigma 35mm f1.4 is kicking Nikon's (and Canon's) a$$, both resolution and money wise.
