D5100 live view focusing problem

My understanding of the Autofocus in Live-View is that it is a contast based focus (not PDAF), it is generally slower, however in low contrast situations (low light) it is likely to be disproportionately slow. What you can do is try to focus on something that has some higher level of contrast that should help.
