Well presented and written post Chris. I enjoyed it.

Only had a short time using MF myself when I was just moving in to photography many years ago. Cost and other factors saw me quickly move away from it when I really didn't know all that much.

You bring up a very good point on price - although the cameras are now relatively cheap to pick-up, the film, dev and processing costs are prohibitive.

Nonsense. There are many thousands of people still shooting film. Ever hear of Holga or Lomo? Mostly kids shooting that.

Film is not that much more expensive when you consider most people spend a lot of money buying new digital gear year after year after year.

No, it's not nonsense.

Despite the popularity of LOMO, my cost for 120 6x9 breaks down as:

$4-5 for a roll of 120 color film (Amazon)

$11.95 / roll for Dev and Enhanced Scan + Sales Tax (North Coast Photo)

So that's $16-$20 per 12 frames

I shot 12,000 frames on the X-Pro1 last year - so that would be at least $16,000 for the same in MF film

That's a whole lot of digital equipment
