I agree with Karl on this. I switched to the back button a few days ago, whenever it was that I posed my question about it here on this forum, and it took all of about a half hour to get used to. It feels really intuitive, partially because it feels like having more control over focussing, but also because the shutter button feels more like a shutter button somehow. Your mileage may vary, of course.
It's a "whatever works for you" kinda thing.
