I use a Nikon D7000 and carry a Fuji X-10 when traveling light. I am looking at MFT - essentially either a Lumix G5 or Nex 6 - to see if I can combine the too and get good IQ in a compact size. Now I know that on paper the APS-C sensor of the DSLR should be a lot better than a MFT, but when you look at some of the images which come out of the G5 for example I am sometimes blown away. It always comes down to art and science I suppose. However good or bad the product made by the camera companies, it is ultimately the skill of the photographer using the camera which is the main deciding factor to the look of the final image. And so to my question. Were you an avid DSLR user who has successfully swapped to MFT. Which kit did you chose and why? I would love to hear of your experience and any advise for one thinking of treading this path.

About a year ago, I purchased an Oly E-P3 and love it for many reasons, but I have come to grips with the fact that m4/3 has its weak points. Case in point: my desire to do bif photography. My E-P3 and even the latest and greatest OM-D falls short. Focus tracking is what's needed and unfortunately m4/3 cameras today do not work well in this mode. I just recently ordered a Nikon D7000 for this purpose. Don't have a big enough wallet to justify the D800  :). I didn't really want to go to this expense, but I had to come to terms with the fact that using my E-P3 would be futile to a large degree. So perhaps augmenting or adding to what you have might be the proper approach as opposed to swapping out. You don't want to look back with regrets down the road if at some point you decide to get rid of the D7000. I know all about regrets regarding selling equipment. I did just that a number of years ago and to this day I regret it.

Just my opinion of course.
