That Fujifilm decided to put in the useless filter function on the X100s. While you dont have to use these gimmicks, it really belies the serious nature of this wonderful camera. Amazing that someone with clout could not override what is clearly a marketing move.

Given your own words above (my emphasis) and the number of significant improvements in the new model I am at a loss to understand the reason for your use of "highly disappointing" as a subject title.

I'm inclined to think you are posting this to provoke reaction but I hope responders will reconsider their reactions, otherwise I will put a stop to it.

You are incorrect John. I have no interest in provoking anyone. What I wrote above is my thought upon hearing this news. The X100 was one of few purist cameras out there, equal to a Leica. This is a big step back in my eyes. It's a philosophical move rather than practical, but I feel like we have lost a little bit of that purity of equipment we recently had.

Yeah, I'm with you on that.

Then again, I don't like cameras with a prominent red video recording button beside the shutter button.  I feel that such a button could have been given a photography-related function instead!!  Make it a programmable button that "could" be a Record button.

But this is the way things are.  At least it's software-related, rather than hardware.
