Well, I don't think it happens very often, as I said above, but this is a shot I took with my ZS20 in P mode, ISO 100, of a shell on the sand at the local beach:

The EXIF details are: 1/2000s f/5.6, ISO100, 10.3mm (35mm eq:58mm).
As you can see, P mode used the max shutter speed of 1/2000s but then had to narrow the aperture from the widest available value of f/4.7 to f/5.6 so that the image would not be overexposed.
To my mind, the IQ is still OK at f/5.6, and I estimate the resolution would be around 2000 LPH. I'm not too worried about using P mode but I certainly acknowledge the benefits of using the "Widest Aperture Mode". However, it would not have worked in this case.
