I see.  Reasonable explanation.

Not to seem like I'm trying to sell the eBay product, but...  The bracket cold shoes are movable and rotatable.  The end result is that you can move two flashes very close to the umbrella shaft and also toe them in slightly so they point at the center of the umbrella.

Anyway, I do DIY lighting solutions myself so I totally get that you are happy with your solution.
