It is nothing wrong to compare different tools, regardless of how old or new they are. That’s the only way, at least for me, to understand their strengths and weaknesses and use what I need when I need. For example, I prefer to use 100 years old Tessar to shoot flowers in colour, 50 years old Minolta 58/1.2 to shoot portraits in B&W,  5 years old Canon 5DMII over Fuji XP1 to shoot fast moving objects in the distance, and so on.
