D3200's sensor is NOT a Sony design, it's not based on the one used in the A77/NEX7, see this subthread at D4 forum:

Now, if Nikon do release a DX D400, which sensor will be used: D7000's (likely not), D3200's, a Sony derived 24MP sensor (A77/Nex7) or something else?

It'd be weird to have two DX models with two different 24MP sensors in the lineup, unlikely, so discard the Sony's 24MP.

Nkon disagrees with you. The 24MP sensor in the D5200 is not the same one as in the D3200. We already have two different 24MP sensors.

Likely, we'll get the same as in the days of the D300/D90/D5000. All three cameras on the same sensor (24MP I would say, based on the D5200) and the D3200 doing its own thing.
