some of the longer Canon lenses utilise a switch to constrain the lens af to certain distances so it's possible. Not entirely sure how the m43 could do this as the focus is entirely different, DSLR lenses are set at the widest aperture to allow af and only close down to the selected aperture as the shot is taken to allow for best af performance, so lenses with larger/faster apertures should give better af performance in difficult conditions.

Anyone want to chip in with m43 experience?
