Anyone using the Tamron 180 macro?

I am using a new tamron 180 macro on a Canon 40D body.  I have mostly used a Canon 100 2.8 EF non IS on the same body.  I am quite pleased with the new lens but feel I am not getting quite as good results as the 100 gave me.  I think this may be as I am trying to get too close to the subject.  Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have two albums on SmugMug one dedicated to the Tamron 180 and the other entitled Macro.  If anyone would care to have a look I would appreciate it.

As the feeling is a general impression and none of the pics were taken by swapping lenses and retaking the shot I realise it is a bit subjective.
