extended tele conversion vs. cropping
Jan 4, 2013

hi all-

every once in a while beautiful birds roost in a dead pine across the lake from my house, and i shoot them with my gh1 and sigma 400mm f5.6, as shown below:

lately, i've added a canon 2x teleconverter to get closer - haven't got any worthwhile shots with it, probably due to a broken tripod that needed to be replaced.

now, i have a panny G5, which has the extended teleconverter feature.  so my question is, would i be better off using this feature (at a maximum resolution of 8mp), or simply taking a "normal" shot  without utilizing this feature, at 16mp, and cropping the image as necessary?

apologies if this is a silly questions - thanks in advance for your patience and advice!
