Olympus and Panasonic manuals are just fine if you take the care to read them prefereably before you start reading the camera (maybe internet retailers should post out the manual first bfore the camera arrives), mine are all well read and have some stored on my phone.

I read them thoroughly although it was much easier when I got a litle book; my favourite bed time reading. However much you digest the G5 manual I don't believe it brings you any closer to how to take stills with the Ex Tele Conv function. As far as I can see there are only about half a dozen of us in the world who understand how it works and none of us got that from the manual

While I'm here why do I get a release icon popping up all the time, I can't find it in the manual, what does it mean?

Trevor,

is the release icon the one you tap, to activate the ability to fire the shutter  by tapping anywhere on the LCD?
