NEX 7 assessment after 6 months, please comment

I am a Nikon SLR shooter, who bought the NEX7 with, what probably were, unrealistic expectations. After about 6 months of shooting with the camera, reality is setting in.
When I first bough the camera, I thought, "it's perfect, who could ask for anything more?" Small, light, great image quality, accepts almost any lens made ever, right? That Nikonian brick around my next has finally been removed. Right, but there is more to shooting than weight and size, this dawned on me over the past few days.
I will never sell my NEX7, I think its a brilliant piece of engineering, but is it a replacement for my SLR, IMHO, no. Will suceeding models eventally be a replacement for an SLR, IMHO, maybe.
At this point, I believe the Sony's EVILs strongest attributes are weight, it's lighter than the 5 pound bag of sugar Nikon. Other than that, IMHO, a modern SLR wins in every other area. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't mind it if the NEX were a tad bigger and heavier (I sound like an iPhone 5 user).
My assessment of NEX7 vrs SLR:
Image quality - even, the NEX is a badass
Lens selection - no contest SLR
Availability of accessories - no contest SLR
Optical viewfinder - I believe, even, the focus peaking and instant magnification are really nice, but for pure viewing pleasure, nothing beats optical
Handling and useability - an here is the most crutial IMHO, no contest SLR. I believe Sony tried to reinvent the wheel with TriNavi and customizable controls, but the sad reality is you can't really improve on the wheel. I think the NEX would have been a much more user friendly camera with clearly marked dedicated controls (as witnessed by the NEX6 shooting mode wheel).
I have just now programmed mine to where I am comfortable with it, but honestly there aren't really that many things that photographers change and dedicated buttons would do for almost all of them. I am looking at my Nikon SLR and see a drive button, image quality button etc., yeah that makes sense.
I still hit the video button (yes I applied the firmware update) and the exposure control wheel every time I shoot with the camera. I could not even imagine using the NEX 7 for any professional work, "oh can you do that again, I accidentally hit a button on my camera"
Could this camera have made me sell my SLR, maybe. If the controls were laid out in a more traditional way where I wasn't hitting buttons accidentally (just a thought, did no initial Sony tester ever mention the video button placement?) and if more affordable lenses (I apologize, $450 for an normal lens is not acceptable) were available, maybe.
In the final analysis the weight is fantastic and image quality is incredible. Will I invest more lenses, no. I will use the NEX7 as a walk around and vacation camera (it replaces my Canon G10).
What have I learned from this? Test shots, specification, reviews and for the most part useless. Rent the camera, shoot with it a week, look at the results and decide.
