+1 for RR PP Metallic for certain subjects. This paper, in fact all papers, have been discussed many, many times on this and other forums.   There is no magic answer as to the paper to use but people still ask. Papers are very subjective and no two people seem to agree. That is fine and maybe why there are so many choices.

My wife and I love to shoot wildlife with the big cats being our favorite subjects. We had been using Epson Premium Luster and found it to be our favorite. We did not like gloss but I finally  tried the RR PP Metllic. For the big cats (lions, leopards, jaguars, etc.) and their warm tones they look wonderful on the metallic. For cool tone subjects it does not seem to work as well for us.

Craig, you have a good question as to who will want prints done on RR PPM. I really think it depends on the subject. I don't think it would work for weddings.

I just know that the people looking at our big cats love them. We sell in a couple of galleries but I have not done any comparsions as to which surface people might prefer.

I print on an Epson 3800 with Epson inks. I use profiles I have done with my ColorMunki and I think they are slightly bettter than the ones from RR when compared side by side. If you are using original inks then most company provided profiles are good to very good.

The one time I always use a custom profile is when doing prints from my wife's oil paintings. Of course that is on fine art paper not RR PPM. It is amazing how close the print matches the painting if you have a good color management workflow. I did spend several months to a year learning c/m.

Since you are in the business then you might want to print on the paper or papers that sell the best. We are not out to sell prints, per se, so we print on the paper we like.

Good luck with your printer.
