After DxO released their review and score on the A99, I've seen some people (I think on SAR) saying that *maybe* the on sensor PDAF could leave the camera with "less pixels" to work with (since some of them are being used to AF and not collecting light), thus generating more noise.

Since I'm no engineer I cannot comment on that, but the math used (light loss caused by the mirror + pixels 'lost' for the AF) would roughly give 1 stop 'penalty' compared to the Nikon D600.

Anyone knows anything about it?
