Panasonic Lumix DMC FX150

When the camera is switched on, the lens extends to maximum zoom and an image appears on the screen. However, the zoom cannot be adjusted, nor will the shutter button work. No pictures can be taken. Any ideas on what is wrong and how it can be put right would be welcome.
