How do you pick FP with an EVF or LCD without TS? Seems like one has to hope that the camera magically picks the right point, which at least for me often fails and is extremely annoying when you're trying to capture a special moment but can't.

with EVF the only option to manipulate FPs is through the use of joystick, TS has no use there at all

As I said -- completely useless, in particular because the NEX series has no joystick. You can't pick focus points efficiently using an EVF. Which is why touch LCD's are crucial.

Note that I wasn't suggesting to use the EVF and TS LCD simultaneously, but one or the other (former for manual lens focusing, latter for AF). I just can't see how AF can be nearly as practical without TS.

and with LCD + anything but a most short lens[es] my left hand is supporting lens barrel all the time (too far away for the left thumb to fiddle with TS), while the right index finger is ready for an immediate action capture, usually already doing 1/2-press = which leaves the right thumb within reach of perhaps 1/3 of the rightmost part of the screen - so... again pretty limited use for a TS, no?

Are you serious? The NEX-5N/5R, and all other touch screen enabled cameras allow to take the picture automatically as soon as focus has been acquired. You simply touch the subject you'd like to be in focus, and have your perfectly sharp pic within a fraction of a second without ever pressing the shutter button. Can't achieve any of that with an EVF.
