When the action is fast and unexpected and you have to keep moving with it, the OVF on the 900 has served me very well. I hope they make another camera that can do it as well.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen. Sony seems committed to creating a photo/video hybrid, and video doesn't work well with OVFs.

It is possible to shoot action with EVFs, although I think OVFs are much better in this regard. If you shoot a lot of action and want an OVF, you should probably look to other brands.

I shot a lot of action with the Sony a580 and 70-210/4 lens, but I recently bought a Nikon D600 and a 80-200/2.8 AF-S lens. I didn't see a viable upgrade path for me within the Sony system. It's hard to buy into another system because you can't use what you got for your Sony, but if you're looking for a better camera to shoot action, you should look into that.
