I had this problem with my 550D, and got it replaced under warranty in early december. I dont know where you live and what kind of warranty you have there. I live in Norway, and we have by law a 5 year warranty, so my 1,5 year old camera was repaired free of charge. They replaced the rubber, and used double sided tape to keep it in place. I have taken about 2000 shots since then, and everything seems fine so far
If you can get it fixed by a shop, I´d do this, then you will have warranty on the repair itself. It can take some time though, my repair took 3 weeks because the shop had to send it away.
Well, unfortunately we don't have such a law in Romania What is more, I bought it used...
As far as i've seen, a replacement kit on ebay is about 30-35 dollars, and in our country a new pair of rubber grips costs about 40-45. so why bother doing it myself, when (probably and hopefully) the authorized Canon service does it better?
Call Canon, they had a major problem with their rubber peeling on many cameras for a period of time, they may fix it without a warranty.
Wow! Great idea! But I do not have the preceipt or any document of it's purchase, since I bought it used from somebody and he didn't include it. I believe Canon may ask for it.
Worth a phone call to find out... they may just want the serial number and if the camera was never registered likely will not care.
Yeah, you're right. Thanks a lot!
