Are you sure you aren't using the live view mode that still uses the PDAF sensors?

PD isn't be possible with the mirror up, because the PD sensors are blocked off by the flipped-up mirror. The mirror is up when I'm in Live View on the E-620. I'm not using Hybrid AF that comes with the mirror dance: rough PD with mirror up, mirror down, followed by precise CD. Am I thinking wrong?
