The P7700 would be great if it was the leader in this class of cameras. It's certainly competitive, but lags in several areas...slower to focus, slower to write files, no OVF, oddly huge file handling in RAW, weak ISO range. It's among the better cameras out there, none of which are great.

snipped for brevity.

An issue I have here is slow focus wouldn't be a deal breaker for this camera for me. I gave up on using an OVF some time ago, being myopic makes the screen usually fine. RAW is meant for those who are superior, I find JPG to be all that's warranted, and it can be adjusted to a large degree if needed. ISO range isn't a deal breaker, even with a large sensor camera I'm still going to regard high ISO stuff as stocking filler, shots I want as posters I tend to seek as low ISO anyway. What is a deal breaker for the P7700 is the extra zoom above the competitors and what appears to my eyes, superior IQ.
