I am a big fan of sunrises.. I shoot them all the time and what I notice most often when I see photos taken by others is the tendency to lighten up the foreground way too much.  Of course, if you are into HDR then you can throw realism out the window and just go for whatever floats your boat.

You were the only one there and only you know what you saw so it is difficult for any third party to try to duplicate the reality of what lay before you.

Of the three shots you produced I actually like the original the most.  The others look a little to processed to me.. but having said that I did take a stab at trying to find a middle ground between too much and too little.  I hope you don't mind.

From my experience with sunrises the immediate foreground is more visible but as you approach the horizon features darken and finally become silhouettes.

Very beautiful scene.  I know you enjoyed being there to witness that sunrise.

Better to look at the full size image than the DPReview scrunch.
