How do we archive thousands of photos

My wife runs a photography business.  I've backed up her photos on a second computer I've turned into a network-attached storage server.  But it's filling up, and so is her desktop computer.  What's the best way to archive tens of thousands of digital photos?  What do the pros use?  Please help.  Thanks.
