Yes and what do you have to say about the people that do send equipment in and still have problems? I guess they should just continue to keep silent.

No one is saying "keep silent" -- rather, we're saying "work the problem in a way that has potential of yielding positive results."

Your idea of letting the company know is great as long as the company has an actual fix in place and also admits a problem. Not when they are sending products back with no real fix.

If enough people complain, why wouldn't that be an incentive for them to get their act together? I agree Nikon is failing here, but I don't think they're just evil fools out to ignore their customer base. If nothing else, their evil self-interest should keep them from doing that. It is also possible that this problem isn't trivial, and that it's taking time for them to come up with a solid solution. In these things I find that assigning pure motives and cooperating with, yes, even those who seem to be slighting me is far more productive.

Do you also think that people dont read these forums before making a purchase? They do and this actually is part of getting a point made. As long as people post these issues, it may help others from buying a bad product and that is a lot of power.

I agree with that. Voicing our concern here is also useful, up to a point, and as long (and I think you fit in this category) it is done with evidence, reason and the desire to inform others. But if we all also inform Nikon in a documented way -- their documented way -- we stand a better chance.
