As its my most used wildlife/birding lens I would suggest the 300F2.8 is a better choice than the 200. Some people eg Thom Hogan reckon its the sharpest of the Nikkor long lenses http://www.bythom.com/rationallenses.htm and works well with the converters. I prefer to use the TC17 though I bought both long before the new TC20 came out.
If your budget allows, it might be worth considering the Zeiss wide primes for landscapes rather than the wide zooms. Hard to find fault with the 15,21 and 25mm apart from price.
