I can't be certain, but the same type of user would have bought both of these cameras. Perhaps these "enthusiasts" are more likely to have heavy lenses, but also more likely to have improper holding/shooting technique, thus flexing and bending the huge amount of plastic securing the mount on both the d7000 and d600, releasing more dust than usual?
Well, that sounds interesting, but do you have any evidence that this is actually happening? We haven't even seen a "massive" number of D600 bodies with bent/flexing mounts, and yet we are to conclude that flexing mounts are leading to additional debris? Most of these "enthusiasts" (do we denote derision in those quotation marks?) are more than likely using the kit lens, so what does that do to the logic? In truth, none of us know whether these spots are plastic or metallic, but it is always more fun to make assertions without backing them up.
As we all know, its not unheard of for a new camera to fling oil early on.
Like the non-plastic D700...
But this 10k shutter dust stuff is bizarre. Espec considering it happened to both enthusiast bodies with Fmounts completely housed in plastic. .
More leaps in logic and conclusions... For all we know, these cameras were fab'ed in overly dusty environments, and somehow that dust is deposited in the corner, then released when parts move during shutter actuation. I wouldn't make that claim, because I don't have the evidence, but we'd all be glad and grateful if equally unproven claims about plastic particles being ground lose by bending lens mounts were not presented as truth.
