Lightroom - Pic quality changes when exported, for the better
Jan 2, 2013

I was all set start a thread here on how I was dissatisfied with the pictures from my D5100, with them being too soft.  We took a family photo by the Christmas tree with the D5100 and a Canon S95 compact and ultimately preferred the S95 photo, it was crisper/sharper.  I imported the photo from the D5100 into Lightroom and the only thing I did was "barrel adjustment", as the picture was shot at 18mm, and then I exported it so I would have a .jpeg to post, as the original is .neff.

To my surprise, when I looked at the .jpeg I much prefer it over the .neff. The jpeg has much better clarity and depth of color.

What gives?
