Have you let Nikon know about your problem/issue?

Not sure what you think you deserve, but my experience with nikon support has been great. They fixed my d800 left AF and overnighted it back to me.

If you have a problem, send it in.

I wouldn't invest too much thought into nikon service conspiracy theories, fueled by low experience novice photographers on lower end build quality enthusiast camera bodies.

Seriously think about that whole equation.
